Our local communities have been promised more good-paying jobs and increased economic growth for the past twenty years. Those promises have not been kept. We need someone who will bring real-world experience and a fresh perspective to this troubling problem. We can spur economic growth and business development in Southwest Wisconsin by unlocking the entrepreneurial spirit that is within all of us. I work with small business owners and farmers every day to help them become more successful. These real-world experiences have allowed me to see firsthand the traits of a successful business.
My priorities include: working to make Southwest Wisconsin a biofuel corridor, provide incentives for businesses that invest in our rural communities, improving the regions infrastructures from roads to rail, and investing in our most valuable economic resource, Wisconsin’s workforce.
This is why I am promoting my “Jobs for the 21st Century Initiative.” The UW System is one of the finest in the nation but we must continue to invest in order that it maintains its accessibility. It is also vital that we provide families with alternative ways to save for higher education. To accomplish this, I will be proposing a tuition insurance program that will make college tuition more affordable now and into the future. In addition, we must provide small businesses across the state with the tools to train their employees and provide them with the education necessary to compete in the global economy.
