I understand the need to reduce the tax burden on families, small businesses and farmers, and hold the line on government spending. Together these two simple steps will keep more of your money in your pocket and the local economy while attracting new family-supporting jobs to the area.
For families across southwest Wisconsin, including seniors on fixed incomes, increases in property taxes take a larger portion of our paychecks. To control property taxes, I support common sense spending limits that encourage economic growth while reining in local property taxes. This is money that could be spent on making that home improvement, saving for a new vehicle, or upgrading the combine.
As we control taxes, it is critical that we look for ways to cut needless government spending all while making certain that the budget is balanced. Families in our towns, cities and villages all balance their budgets. State government should be no different. We must stop using accounting tricks to pass along deficit spending. It is time we left something to the next generation other than a financial hardship. I will stand up for honest accounting in the state and demand a truly balanced budget.
